Headteacher’s Welcome

Welcome to Southmead Primary School!

Our creative, inclusive and nurturing school is situated in Southfields, close to Wimbledon Common.

All our highly-skilled and dedicated staff members are committed to providing  pupils with the highest quality of education and ensuring that they achieve their full potential. Our children are also aspirational for themselves and they love learning. Their unique talents and abilities, whether in sports, art, drama or music, are valued, celebrated and developed.

Throughout the school, our older pupils take pride in setting the younger children exceptional examples of behaviour and the very youngest pupils in the Early Years benefit from spacious outdoor learning areas and explorative learning experiences.

Southmead’s 18 place ASD base is a thriving hub of activity and learning. We are delighted to work with a range of specialist professionals to ensure the best progress for pupils with additional needs.

All pupils are encouraged to play an active role in the success of our school and to speak up, share their diverse opinions and make a difference. Pupil Voice Groups such as the Digital and Playground Leaders, and School Councillors represent and support their peers to with child-centred school improvement. Every voice is heard and our Head Boy and Head Girl provide strong role-models and further pupil leadership.

Southmead Primary pupils are always off on local trips or visiting places of educational interest such as the British Museum, the Houses of Parliament and London Zoo. Our range of clubs from Taekwondo to Dance to Science are very popular.  Football training and well-being workshops with Fulham Football Club, as well as robotics classes with Chelsea FC, are highlights of the school year.

Pupil and staff well-being, as well as academic success, is a priority at Southmead Primary School and we are proud of our holistic approach to personal development, our accreditation as a “Flagship School” by the Inclusion Quality Mark (2025) and our “Good” Ofsted rating (2022).

Please feel welcome to visit our school and meet our dedicated staff and wonderful children. You will see the pupils’ positive attitudes towards learning, our broad and balanced curriculum and our values in action. You will also see why we are all so “Proud to Belong” at Southmead Primary School.
