Hello and welcome to our new Year 4 classes!
In Year 4 we are: Maple Class with Mr Smith, who is helped by Mrs Jenner, and Willow Class with Miss Darkin, who is helped by Miss Rembridge and Miss Glynn.
Our painting for this term is ‘The 7th Plague’ by John Martin and our topic: Ancient Egypt.
We will upload the class weekly timetable once it has been finalised.
Spelling and Grammar practice:
At this time of year, Year 4 children will be working on place value of 4-digit numbers in Maths. Alongside this there is a school focus on mastering multiplication.
We will also be extending our writing by using a variety of subordinating conjunctions and interesting adjectives. Children should also have a secure knowledge of Year 3 curriculum spellings.
The children will begin to learn the Clarinet during September every Friday, and will continue lessons throughout all of Year 4. Please encourage your child to practise regularly in order to be ready for any upcoming concerts.
Here are some of the ways in which you can help your child at home:
- Read with your child every day and ensure their reading diary is signed at least once a week by an adult.
- Ensure homework is completed and handed in by Wednesday the following week. (Homework club takes place on Tuesday and Wednesday lunch times at school)
- Practise times tables with your child reciting “1 times 8 is 8”, for all of the times tables that they are not confident in.
-Apply a variety of methods to help your child learn and practise spellings
-Ensure that your child wears the expected uniform and PE Kit
If you have any questions please speak to Miss Darkin or Mr Smith on the playground at the end of the day, or get in touch with the school office to arrange an appointment.
We are so excited for our first term with our new classes! We hope you had a great summer and are ready for the term ahead.
