Hello and welcome to our new Year 4 classes!
In Year 4 we are: Maple Class with Mrs Horner, who is helped by MrGrenville, and Willow Class with Mr MacAndrews, who is helped by Miss Elboushi.
Our painting for this term is ‘The 7th Plague’ by John Martin and our topic: Ancient Egypt.
The children will begin to learn the Clarinet during September, and will continue lessons throughout all of Year 4. At first the children will practise in school but when they are confident in how to care for their clarinet they will be allowed to bring it home to practise! Look out for our Clarinet home-school agreement that will be in book bags for you to sign when this time comes. Clarinet is on a Monday.
Here are some of the ways in which you can help your child at home:
- Read with your child every day and ensure their reading diary is signed at least once a week by an adult.
- Ensure homework is completed and handed in by Wednesday the following week.
- Practise times tables with your child reciting “1 times 8 is 8”, for all of the times tables that they are not confident in.
-Apply a variety of methods to help your child learn and practise spellings
-Ensure that your child wears the expected uniform and PE Kit
If you have any questions please speak to Mr MacAndrews or Mrs Horner on the playground at the end of the day, or get in touch with the school office to arrange an appointment.
We are so excited for our first term with our new classes! We hope you had a great summer and are ready for the term ahead.
