Hello! Happy New Year and welcome back to our Reception Class!
In Reception we have Elm class with Miss Trigg, Ms Francis and Miss Macarty. Our other class is Ash class with Miss Keeble, Mrs Clark and Miss Mathurin.
Our painting for this term is ‘Girls Reading by Renoir and our topic is ‘Fairy Tales and Traditional Rhymes’. We will be reading and learning about lots of different traditional stories and nursery rhymes.
Below is the video with the Jolly Phonics songs for our Phase 2 & 3 sounds! Watch the video with your child and see if they can teach you all of the sounds and actions. Which sounds can they write?
In Reception we aim to provide an exciting and hands-on curriculum where children are learning through play in our inside and outside areas to further their knowledge and understanding of the world around them.
At this stage of the year we are supporting the children to hear and write mains sound. We are extending the children who are able to do this to write simple sentences including some tricky words.
In Maths, we will be looking at counting in different ways with a focus on teen numbers. We will also be looking at 3D shapes.
In Reception we have a big focus on the prime areas where we will support your children to develop their communication and language, social skills and strengthen their physical ability.
Here are some of the ways you can help your child at home:
•Reading with your child every day and signing their diaries.
•Practicing writing and recognising your child's name.
•Practicing counting items to 10 and beyond.
•Letter and Number formation.
Please provide a PE kit for your child, which can be kept in their locker and will be sent home in the holidays to wash (PE is every Thursday morning.
If you have any questions please ask Miss Trigg or Miss Keeble on the door at the start or end of the day, or get in touch with the school office to arrange an appointment.
We are so excited for our Spring term with our Reception classes!
